Up early with the chickens these energetic and playful pups are always eager and ready to start the day. The Doxiedoodle also affectionately known as the Doxiepoo is one of the most unpredictable designer crossbreeds, which means there is no way to predict what appearance or personality you’ll get! These precious pups are an imperfect perfect blend of their Dachshund and Poodle parents, making each one completely unique from one to the next.
Because of the unpredictability of the Doxieddoodle it is hard to make an accurate description in regards to their appearance. Most often they are small in stature with a long body and delicate frame, like the Dachshund and the curly or wavy coat of the Poodle and can be short or long. They can weigh anywhere between 5 to 30 lbs. – this is most often determined by the size of the Poodle parent and can measure anywhere between 8 to 23 inches at the shoulder. They have short legs and snout with a fairly round head and floppy ears. They have big eyes that are brown or black and come in coat colors of black, brown, white, tan and red.
Just like their appearance, their personalities can be very different too. One thing found in every Doxiedoodle however is a clever, loving and affectionate pooch. They are known for adapting well to their environments and being naturally curious in nature. Their curiosity however can sometimes lead them into mischievous behavior if not closely supervised. If they get bored or are left along for extended periods of time they have a tendency to dig and can develop separation anxiety, so make sure you have plenty of activities and toys for this lively pup.
They do well in both an apartment setting or in a home with a large yard. As long as they are taken for daily walks and have plenty of active play each day they will be happy and healthy and likely to stay out of trouble wherever they are. They do have the tendency to be protective of their home and family and so can be very “yappy” when a stranger comes into their environment until they get to know them better. This makes them wonderful guard dogs.
They are not naturally adaptable to children or other pets and will need some socialization and training before being introduced into a home with either children or pets. If properly trained and socialized at a young age they make excellent additions to any family that is willing to play, love, and entertain this little one. They are always up for an adventure so don’t leave them behind on your aventures.
