The Double Doodle is the newest craze in the world of designer dogs. The Double Doodle, also referred to as the Double Doodlepoo is a mix of three of the most popular and favorite canines; the Golden retriever, the Labrador retriever and the Poodle. They are created by breeding a Goldendoodle (Golden retriever + Poodle) and a Labradoodle (Labrador retriever = Poodle).
Appearance
Like all hybrid dogs, the appearance can change even among pups of the same litter. The lineage of hybrid canines is not long enough to rule out a specific appearance, temperament or health synopsis. However, the majority of the Double Doodles measure between 20 to 29 inches at the shoulder with an average weight of 50 to 80 lbs. The males are most often a little larger than the females.
Their coat is medium to long in length and resembles the curls and waves of the Poodle with the density of the retriever. Their colors vary between cream, black, brown, or white. They have brown eyes, a black nose and a long tail.
Temperament and Personality
Each one of the dogs used to make the Double Doodle have loving, intelligent and gentle natures and this is no different in this newest hybrid. This pup is full of love and makes a perfect addition to any family. They are very sociable animals and thrive in the company of others, pets included. Because of their social nature it is important to get them out for walks and mental stimulation. They are eager to meet new people, so don’t be surprised when they take to strangers for some affection.
These hybrids are energetic dogs that need plenty of exercise and play time, it is not recommended to have a pup of this size and energy level in an apartment or small home setting. They do best in larger homes and in areas with a fenced yard where they can romp around and explore. They are great hiking and swimming companions, so be sure not to leave them behind on your adventures.
Nutrition
The amount of food intake will depend on the overall size of your pet. Most canines in the range of 50 to 80 lbs. will require 2 to 3 cups of nutritionally dense food each day. Because they are highly active and energetic dogs they burn through calories quickly and so may require a larger food intake. As with any breed, treats are an excellent supplemental snack, but should be given in moderation. Double Doodle has an average life expectancy of 12 to 15 years.
The Double Doodle comes from a long lineage of exceptional canine ancestors. They are warm, caring and sweet companions that want nothing more than to please their owners and be a part of the family.
