Doodle Dogs -Did you Know?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Doodles vary greatly in size.

From Cockapoos to Bernadoodles these beautiful designer breeds can range from just a few lbs. to upwards of 100 lbs.!  It is always a good idea to meet or learn about the parent breeds before adopting your doodle so you can know what to expect as far as size.

Doodles are considered to be hypoallergenic.

Contrary to many beliefs, there is no true hypoallergenic dog…however, the doodle breeds shed very little if at all. This means that dander, which is essentially loose skin becomes trapped closer to the skin and isn’t freely floating around the home. Doodles are great options for allergy sufferers, though it is highly recommended if you do suffer from allergies to spend some time with a doodle before making them part of your family.

They are not recognized breeds.

Aussiedoodle, Goldendoodle, Maltipoo, Hava Poo are just a few of the dozens of hybrid “designer” dogs who are so popular today. Most doodle mixes have been bred by prestigious breeds, but they themselves are not considered pure breeds.  A purebred dog by definition is a dog who has been selectively bred over many generations to “breed true.”
